It's time to report on my July dividends and it looks like a pretty weak month for me at only $179.34. However this is due to a couple of factors; one being that Walmart (WMT) advanced it's latest dividend to June rather than July and I also just missed the ex-div date when I recently purchased more shares of Piedmont Natural Gas (PNY). Both would have put me comfortably over the $200 mark. That being said i think next quarter will be more inline with my other monthly totals. So from here on out I should be over the $200 mark and climbing ever higher toward that $300 mark.
July Purchases
- Kinder Morgan (KMI) - 31 shares @ $37.46
July 2014 Dividend Income
- Coke Cola (KO) – $9.76
- Altria (MO) – $45.60
- Glasko Smith Kline (GSK) – $14.72
- Piedmont Natural Gas (PNY) - $21.76
- Realty Income (O) - $18.28
- Hatteras Financial (HTS) - $27.50
- Sysco (SYY) - $19.14
- Kraft (KRFT) - $22.58
Total Dividends For July: $179.34
Great stuff!! I should hit the $200 mark for the first time by the end of year.
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome! You have a fantastic looking dividend growth chart too and you had a monster June. Keep it up
DeleteCongrats on a great month! And even better news is your purchases pushing you up over the $200 mark for every month from here on out. Keep up the good work and you'll be at that $300 mark in no time.
ReplyDeleteYou bet, I love the compounding effect and I can really see it starting to kick in at this point. I typically fund my account to the tune of about $1000 a month but now I can tack on the extra dividend income and it's like $1200 now. Soon to be more and I can't wait. Thx for stoppin by PIP
Deletehey at least you crushed last July!. I hate missing ex-div dates. Its like your favorite sports team just made a trade and the new player has an injury. ARGGGGGGGG!
ReplyDeleteHaha, that's a great analogy. :-o
DeleteHi Captain,
ReplyDeleteSeems much like my month. Little less than other months, but still a healthy amount that can be used to increase your portfolio further. I expect 200 to be my baseline as well for future months, and that still feels kind of like an achievement!
Keep up the great work!,
Best,
DW
I think that's pretty much the norm from what I've seen with most dividend investors. March,June,Sept, and Dec seem to be big months for many DGI's like us and with good reason. There's so many great companies that pay during those months. It's easy to see how those months can be so big in comparison. I however have tried to keep balance in terms of my monthly payments. Either way is fine I just hate seeing those low months hehe.
DeleteCheers,
Capn
Still a great month! Making great progress.
ReplyDeleteThanks! One day I hope to be up there in the income department like you and some of the other bloggers. :-)
DeleteCongrats CD. Like A-G said, you have crushed last year's July number and things will just keep improving over the next months.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the great work

Thanks Roadmap, I actually forgot to look what I made last year and your right, it was quite a big jump there! Thanks for the reminder.
DeleteGreat result you had there! I wish I have the same result soon.
ReplyDeleteThank you and grats on your new blog, I made sure to add it to my bloglist. I'll be sure to stop by.
DeleteHey CD,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on another solid month of receiving dividends. That is great that you will be receiving over $200 in dividends in the future. I bet your excited about the sudden dip in the market as it presents for better buying opportunities. I really like AFL, DE, and KMI right now as a potential buy. Just need to free up some capital and wondering if the market will dip a little more. We will see how next week turns out. Thanks for sharing! Good luck investing!
I am excited about the sudden dip for sure, in fact today I need to decide what I'm going to buy for tomorrow. It's nice when you can get some stocks that are 'on sale'.
DeleteThanks for sharing your recent dividend income update with us. KO seems to be in many of the DGI portfolios I have seen. $179 for the month is a very respectable number. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteThanks DH, I think that KO must be one of the most held stocks in DGI portfolios and for good reason. I think KO may be one of those stocks to hold for the rest of your life.
DeleteGreat income this month, Captain Dividend.
ReplyDeleteI have received only 54 EUR this month - but I worked on more...
Best whishes, Captain!

I'm working on more too! It's good to know that my dividends I receive while sometimes small compared to other months can still be put to use for future purchases which will make those monthly totals grow ever higher. So your 54 EUR now may be higher next quarter and next year. Best of luck
DeleteGreat job Captain!
ReplyDelete$200 a month every month is awesome! The growth in monthly income may start out small, but compounding really accelerates the process once the base is built up.
Agreed, that along with dividend growth can really add up fast. Thanks Swan
DeleteGreat dividend income for July. A little lower than your 2014 monthly average but you crushed your 2013 July dividend. Now that's progress! I still need to tally mine which should be around $600 range.
ReplyDeleteHey Tawcan, it is really nice to see the progress each and every month. If not at least big year over year growth. I just checked out your blog, wow your killing it! You also have a nice mix of Canadian stock and US stocks. I had SJR myself once but I sold it because of the tax burden. Best of luck!
DeleteCongrats on another great month. It is great to see the graph going up each month. I am looking to hit $200 myself and received 187.47 this July. Hopefully I hit the 200 mark soon.
ReplyDeleteI am looking to get GSK myself after the recent correction. But I wonder why not many dividend investors are keen in GSK inspite of over 5% yield.
DGJ
I just made a purchase today, I went with Coke but it was between GSK and KO. Both look fantastic and I think GSK's issues are short term set backs rather than long term problems. I don't think you can go wrong with either one here.
DeleteCaptain - Thanks for sharing your dividend results. It appears that you continue to do better with each year. Plus, you've received dividends from some very solid companies there. Keep up the great work! AFFJ
