September Dividend Update

As the market selloff continues we continue to see some great deals in the markets. I wish I had more money to take advantage of these low prices however we may see lower prices to come. I'll continue buying on the way down if we do. My most recent purchase was Johnson and Johnson (JNJ) and was the only purchase for September.

After a record breaking month of August ($309.01) I knew it was going to be tough to eclipse that total but I nearly pulled it off. My dividend total for the September was $301.73 which is a 32% improvement over last years September total of $227.94. Next month could be a bit lower as I simply don't own as many stocks for the first month of the quarter.

September Purchases
  • Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) - 11 Shares @ $93.65
September Dividend Income
  • Walmart (WMT) - $16.66
  • Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) - $28.50
  • Unilever - (UL) - $18.10
  • Chevron - (CVX) - $57.78
  • Exxon - (XOM) - $31.39
  • Realty Income (O) - $19.00
  • Avista (AVA) - $19.14
  • Compass Minerals (CMP) - $11.88
  • McDonalds (MCD) - $29.75
  • Pepsi (PEP) - $30.21
  • Universal Health (UHT) - $32.00
Total Dividends For September 2015: - $301.73

  2. Great month Captain. Your dividend payers this month are all really high quality stocks. Nice work on you stock selection. As for next month, I am in the same boat. I don't have a bunch of October paying stocks.

    1. Ya I try to stick to stocks that have a long streak of dividend increases. If you do that you usually end up with high quality stocks like JNJ and KO. I'm betting that October is a weak month for most of us. Fact is that there's just not as many options in the first month of the quarter. When I see one on sale though I usually try and get it.

  3. Great job Captain! I don't necessarily look to have even dividend payouts each month, although that would be nice, but yours are pretty good. Mine are very heavily loaded with the last month of the quarter producing over half of my quarterly dividends. Oh well, when I make it to FI I'll be well versed in budgeting. Keep up the good work!

    1. There's so many great dividend stocks in the last month of the quarter that most investors typically have big dividend months there. Nothing wrong with that, I really don't think many people try and balance out their payments as much as me. That's perfectly fine too if you aren't retired or happen to be able to budget for it.

    1. Ya I've been pretty consistent with my contributions so the charts growth has been pretty smooth. I haven't missed any purchases and I haven't purchased a large amount at one time either. Steady as she goes, That's fine with me. Thanks Roadmap

  7. CD,

Only a 32% increase? Come on you're better than that... JOKING. Awesome month and I see those that paid are you fairly clean and are great dividend payers for the long term. Keep it up and I can see $500+ this time next year. Congrats!

    1. Haha ya I only wish I could keep up 32% growth for years and years. Even though my total growth numbers may go down my total dividend income will keep on growing. Gotta love that.
