December Dividend Update

It's time to report on my December dividend income!  This month my dividend total was $213.07 which is down from the $227.94 that I made last quarter in September. This was not due to anything sinister like a dividend cut but merely some of the dividends I was expecting have moved in to January. The two culprits were PEP and WMT which will pay on Jan 5th. This would have been a record month had they fell in December. Instead it looks like January will be a solid month. Can't wait.

In comparison, last years December total was $162.21 so even with a lower total than I was expecting I still managed to increase my total dividend income by over 31% which isn't too shabby.

December 2014 Purchases
  • GlaksoSmithKline (GSK) - 29 shares @ $42.39
  • AT&T (T) - 36 shares @ $35.6

December Dividend Increases
  •  McDonalds (MCD) - From .81 to .85 ( a 4.9% increase )
  • Universal Health Trust (UHT) - From .63 to .635 ( a 0.8% increase )

December 2014 Dividend Income
  • Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) - $11.90
  • Chevron (CVX) - $57.78
  • Lorillard (LO) - $17.22
  • Unilever (UL) - $9.33
  • Reality Income (O) - $18.31
  • Avista (AVA) - $18.42
  • McDonalds (MCD) - $29.75
  • Coca Cola (KO) - $18.61
  • Universal Health Trust (UHT) - $31.75

Total Dividends For December: - $213.07

Total Dividends for 2014: - $2505.48

  2. Nice solid way to wrap up the year with a 31% year over year increase. While the push to January hurts the dividends received, at the end of the day, the cash is coming in the door and they raises keep coming.

Best wishes in 2015 as you continue to move up and to the right!

    1. I'd certainly be happy with another 30% gain next year as well! That will be harder and harder to attain that type of growth though. Good luck in 2015 as well.

    1. Thanks FFF, ya looks like I averaged over $200/month in 2014. That will pay some bills right there. 2015 should be even better. Cheers !

    1. That would be something indeed. I think $3500 might be a bit too ambitious but it's a nice number to shoot for. Someday I'll be up there with you Tawcan. :-o

  5. These are the best posts to write and read among the DGI bloggers. It's always fun to see what type of passive income is earned from the various portfolios we read about online. Some similar names in your list as mine. I'll be posting my dividend income soon. Your 2014 ended on some solid footing and you set yourself up for an even better 2015. Thanks for sharing.

    1. I agree, I enjoy reading others monthly reviews. What stocks they are holding in those months and transactions they've made. I'm excited to see how we all fair in 2015, like you said it should be even better.

  6. CD,

That's a great way to finish out the year. It looks like a big chunk of your income came from Chevron. Are you going to keep buying energy names while oil prices are low?

    1. It wouldn't be a bad idea but I'm in no rush. CVX is already my largest holding and although I'd like to average down I think I'd rather open a position in XOM instead for extra diversity. That being said I don't think were going to see a recovery any time soon so I think I have time. I am considering XOM for my next purchase though.
