It's time for my August dividend update! For the month of August I was able to earn $372.58 in dividend income.
In made one purchase for the month in Altria, I wish I would have waited a bit since it's even cheaper now. That's how the market works and that's why I'm not a trader. My timing is usually pretty crummy in the short term. Other than my one purchase I had a pretty quiet month but still managed to earn some steady income as you can see below.
August Stock Purchases
- Altria (MO) - 19 shares @ $65.71 = $1,255.44
- Vanguard Long-Term Bond ETF (BLV) - $3.51
- WGL Holdings (WGL) - $38.76
- Realty Income (O) - $7.94
- General Mills (GIS) - $47.04
- Verizon (VZ) - $60.06
- AT&T (T) - $110.25
- Clorox (CLX) - $15.96
- Proctor & Gamble (PG) - $33.10
- Abbott Labs(ABT) - $7.16
- Peoples United Financial (PBCT) - $ 38.47
- Powershares Muni Bond ETF (PZA) - $10.33
In the chart below you can see my dividend growth. Lets keep that moving average going up!
Congrats on the MO buy. No one ever buys at the absolute bottom nor sells at the absolute top. Over the long haul you should be just fine with MO. nice total for your August dividends too. May of the usual suspects with some interesting names paying you as well like PBCT. Don't see that name often. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteYa I still like MO and am considering adding to my position again. PBCT is a small regional bank so it's no surprise you haven't heard of it. I owned a couple others earlier this year but sold due to buyouts or incredible runs up in stock price. Win , win either way there. :-o
DeleteForget MO, :)...but hey that is just my two cents! Keep it up CD, nice total!
ReplyDeleteYou don't care for MO because of the health reasons I take it? I can respect that stance. Thanks for the visit!
DeleteSuperb increase from last year! Keep up the great work and when MO hit $60 during that "flash crash" I wish I would have had a few thousand to toss into it. Could have made a quick 10%+ in only a couple hours. Looks poised to hit the $60 level again. Anyways, good purchase and good results this past month.

MO is still on my short list of potential purchases. I may just buy some more. :-)
DeleteGrats on another great month. Dont stress about that buy i did that with cineplex when it dropped 24% i bought it the next day its dropped another 6% but 2 weeks later im up! Crazy returns on bitconnect ao far
ReplyDeleteYa, I actually don't care much but it's always nice to get in as low as possible. I can't wait for those MO dividends to roll in after the recent 8% increase.
DeleteI am with you on crummy timing. I bought some shares of UNIT and a few days later it took a nice dive and now I am about $200 in the red. Thankfully we are dividend investors and we look at the long term investment not these ups and downs stocks do on a daily, weekly, monthly basis.
ReplyDeleteOverall it looks like you had a good month. $372 is nice chunk of change for doing nothing but buying stock and letting them pay you every 3 months. I do not know what bitconnect is. I might take a look.
Exactly, if I had to flip stock in the short term I would probably be either broke, incredibly stressed out or both.
DeleteI'm still not sure about Bitconnect so I'm not putting in any serious money but if the returns are legit and it's NOT some crazy ponzi scheme then I'll be incredibly happy in a couple years to say the least earning nearly 1% a day.

ReplyDeleteNice job almost crossing the massive $400 mark. Quite a bit of income from telecom, any special take on Verizon?
Also - thanks for shedding more light on Bitconnect, keep us posted on the results from the performance of that investment, very curious, as I am sure other readers are.

I love seeing my income steadily grow each quarter like clock work and no having to do any work for it! There's not much better than that. I own Verizon and AT&T both and love each but they have some crazy debt to deal with.
DeleteI'll do another Bitconnect update at the end of the month, it'll be my first full month in the program.
Another excellent month, keep up the excellent work. Awesome to see that dividend trend line continue upwards. Well done to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the visit. BTW - I added your site to my blog list, I'm surprised I didn't have it on there yet.
DeleteThanks Captain Div. Perhaps a long time coming :)
DeleteHi Captain,
ReplyDeleteCongrats on nearly $400 of passive income this month! :) Looking forward to your September results. Keep it up!
Best wishes,
-DL
If things go well I might be over the $400 mark next month. Fingers crossed!
DeleteGood report Captain Dividend. Several of the companies that paid you dividends in August are also on my list. These include: GIS, O, T, and PG.
ReplyDeleteBitconnect is intriguing, but at this point, I wish I had the extra money to try it out.
Ya those are rock solid core dividend holdings for many of us. Looks like I'm in good company.
DeleteBitconnect is a bit of an experiment for me. I wouldn't recommend putting more than you're comfortable losing(just in case). So far it's paying me every single day amazing interest which I can reinvest each day for that magical compounding effect that Einstein loved so much.
Congrats on the dividend income, very solid stuff. First time I heard Bitconnect, will take a closer look.
ReplyDeleteThanks Tawcan, lemme know if you try bitconnect and you're thoughts on it.
DeleteAwesome Job bringing in the dividends and nice pickup Love MO. cant get enough of it lol. keep it up.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard not to like MO, the dividends are very generous as is the dividend growth. the stock appreciation is icing on the cake.
DeleteCongrats on the numbers, need to look up more about bitconnect
ReplyDeleteWould love to hear your take on bitconnect if you try it. Thanks for the visit!
DeleteI think we bought MO the same day. My price was only a few cents cheaper. Congrats on another YOY improvement.
ReplyDeleteDFG
Great minds think alike!!
DeleteThat's a significant YoY increase in dividend income. I love visuals like this. Great job.
ReplyDeleteThat was a juicy dividend from AT&T :)
