It's time for my September dividend update! This month I earned $402.96 which is a new record high for me! This was about 3.5% more than I made last quarter and a whopping 33% more than I earned last year! I'm pretty happy with that progress to say the least.
This month I did not make any purchases due to some car related expenses. This trend may continue going forward as I'm hesitant to keep adding money to an overvalued market. There are some good deals out there but very few. I may just build cash for a while or try investing in other areas like Lending Club, RealtyMogul, or Fundrise.
September Dividend Increases
- None (I can't remember the last time I didn't get at least one increase, weird)
- Walmart (WMT) - $43.50
- Johnson & Johnson (JNJ) - $48.80
- Unilever (UL) - $19.77
- Exxon (XOM) - $51.00
- Compass Minerals (CMP) - $22.24
- Cullen & Frost (CFR) - $9.72
- Avista (AVA) - $19.87
- McDonalds (MCD) - $31.15
- Flowers Foods (FLO) - $74.40
- Travelers (TRV) - $8.04
- Universal Health Trust (UHT) - $32.50
- Pepsi (PEP) - $32.36
- Powershares Muni Bond ETF (PZA) - $9.83
Way to go Captain! Gotta love new records. I completely understand about the overvalued market. I too am hesitant and therefore sold 3/4's of my stocks.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the update, keep up the great work!

I've seen a few bloggers selling some/all of their holdings. I can't say I blame them, I'd be lying if I said I haven't considered it. It's hard to know what to do sometimes. Thanks for the visit!
DeleteGreat job Captain with over $400 in dividends. That's one heck of a chart that's consistently moving higher quarter after quarter. Can't wait to see how Q4 turns out for you.
ReplyDeleteThe growth could be much slower going forward if I'm no longer making regular contributions but at the very least I can reinvest the dividends into some undervalued companies if I can find some out there. MO ? WMT ? Well see.
DeleteOver $400 is awesome! I'm not sure if I told you yet, but I love the style of your dividend chart. I might implement something similar on my own site, if you don't mind.
ReplyDeleteThe chart style is nothing special, feel free to copy it! The growth in the moving quarterly average is what I love the most. Thanks!
DeleteCongrats on hitting a new record with a healthy year over year increase too. As usual, a nice list of companies paying you. Some in my portfolio and some not yet, like TRV. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, looks like you had a solid quarter as well with far more diversification than me. Lets keep the ball rolling!
DeleteCD that is awesome man. It is always the best to hit a new high! Over 30% YoY growth is great too. Gotta love that momentum building. And sorry to hear about your car expenses. I too am having the same issue, with both of our cars, believe it or not. Rough!
ReplyDeleteYa, what a drag. Just trying to pass inspection and this check engine light I can't seem to get fixed. Gotta take it to a dealer and see if they can flash the computer. Good luck with your car.
DeleteSolid dividend income Captain Dividend. Congrats on hitting a new record!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tawcan, by the way I loved your article ( http://www.tawcan.com/stock-investment-thoughts-impending-doomsday-aka-bear-market/ ). Your thoughts pretty much mirror my own at this point. It's hard to know what to do but I'd like to stay the course.
DeleteAwesome month some solid payers paying good.
ReplyDeleteThanks, looks like you had a stellar month as well with a huge QOQ gain.
DeleteNice work Captain! September set a new monthly record for me as well! My chart pretty much mimics yours.
ReplyDeleteYou're killing it over there with those YoY increases. Keep it up!
Deletecongrats on a new record! great month. I see you own lots of FLO and got paid very well for this stock. Best wishes
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty heavily invested in FLO, probably too much but much of that is due to everything else feeling too expensive in comparison.
DeleteKeep up the great work Captain. Keep saving up that cash bro, we'll have some wonderful opportunities soon... I Hope :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing and keep hustling hard buddy. Cheers.
Will do DH, thanks for the visit!
DeleteNice job on the $400 dividend, even i ventured to fundrise and will share details soon of my experiment
ReplyDeleteAwesome, I can't wait to hear about it. Looks like I'm still on the waiting list. :-(
Deletejust found out that you are based in st louis too.
DeleteWow, would you look at that chart, only one way! UP up and Up! You're so discipline and persistant. Almost at the $500 mark average. After the $500 mark, you'll see things start rolling faster.
ReplyDeleteWow a little more than $400 in a month is amazing. Looks like you are well on your way to reaching FIRE!!!
ReplyDelete$403 bucks, Great work Captain!
ReplyDeleteCaptain,
ReplyDeleteAnother great month of dividend income for you. It's too bad you had the car problems though. I had some of my own as well (thanks to my wife not thinking that avoiding changing her oil for a year was a problem when she drives it daily on non-synthetic). Just got to make sure you have an emergency fund that doesn't come between your investments. You'll definitely be more prepared next time though :)!
Look at your growing dividend income stream. Great job!
